"Nothing to be sorry about." Jake shrugged up a shoulder, resting his palms flat against the bar. "Besides...its not like we were that great together." He commented, keeping his eyes leveled with hers.

Lexi kept her eyes with his and then nodded. "That's right. We werent" she then cleared her throat and looked over at the pool table. She saw Flick. She was home from vacation already? Lexi moved her eyes back to look at him. "But still.. I'm sorry" When Jake had said those words she had felt her heart deflate just a little. Glad that she had kept her emotions in tact though.

Jacob nodded once. As much as he hated saying that, they're entire relationship revolved around arguments, hiding from his best friend, and a bunch of bad decisions. But he felt like kicking himself for saying it nonetheless. "I think Felicia wants you." He cleared his throat, nodding to the brown-haired girl.

"Yeah I guess she does." Lexi pushed her plate of half eaten food away. Not feeling very hungry anymore. She grabbed her purse and put some money on the counter. "Keep the change" she said softly before getting off the stool. Grabbing her drink and then walking over to where Flick was. Well she had apologized.

Jacob grabbed the money and tucked it into the pocket of his jeans as he stepped away from the bar. This was another reason their relationship hadn't worked. He always said the wrong fucking thing. He walked back into the kitchen and tugged the apron off from around his waist. "Shift's over!" he shouted to his boss who was busy yelling at one of the cooks. She ignored him.

Flick smiled at Lexi and then took her shot at the pool table. "So, I guess you found out that Jake works here then?" she stood up straight and took a sip of her drink. "You going to this party on the beach tonight?" "Yeah I just found out and no I'm not really in the mood" she leaned against the table and then licked her lip. "Anyway, It's a bunch of girls in bikini's making out with easy guys" "Jake will fit right in then" Flick smirked at Lexi, who gave her a glare. "Come on.. I'm just kidding" Flick had been the only one to know about Jake and Lexi. Hell she had covered for Lexi number of times.

Jacob tossed his apron on a table by the kitchen door on his way out. He stopped by the register and popped it open, staring down at the wads of cash stuffed under the slots. God knows the only reason he took this damn job was the money, and even then he wasn't making enough to maintain his father's alcoholism and the bills. He sighed and slipped in the money Lexi had given him, keeping the change for himself. It was a well earned tip. He closed the register and slipped out from behind the bar, walking towards the front door.

"Is Jake going?" Flick carried on without actually listening that much to Lexi. She glanced over at the dark haired girl when she shrugged. "Im not his keeper anymore. So how would I know if he was actually going?" "But would you go if he wasnt going?" Flick asked and handed the stick over to Lexi, and she just caught Lexi's answer as she walked over to Jake. "Hey, dude. Listen you going to this party on the beach later?"

Jacob stopped when he saw Flick coming up towards him. He raised his eyebrows. "Uh..." He began, not having known about an actual party until just now. "Maybe. Possibly. No idea." He huffed out a short laugh. "Why? Would my appearance be super important?"

"Course you will actually lighten the whole party scene up. Plus... Lexi wont be there so you wont have to worry about bumping into her. Please Jake. If not then It's just going to be me with a bunch of losers and trust me.. you really dont want to see that happen" she laughed softly and then bit on her lip. "It'll be fun.."

Jacob laughed a little. "Alright, I'll see what I can do. But no guarantees." He nodded once. The only real reasons he went to parties anymore was to make a giant fool out of himself. Jake wasn't exactly sure that there was any other reason for partying.

"Sweet I'll see you there" she smiled and then walked back over to Lexi. Who was sipping her coke and looking like an idiot right about now. Flick let the smile slide off her face before standing next to Lexi. "So is he going?" she asked and leaned her hip against the pool table once more. "Nah. So you coming or not?" Flick sighed. "It'll be fun and you need fun" Lexi rolled her eyes. "Fine.. I'll be there"

Jacob walked out of the door to the diner and towards his beat up Ford sitting on the other end of the parking lot. The sun was still high in the sky, meaning another couple hours until any real party would actually start. He pulled the keys from his pockets and slid behind the wheel, hoping the engine didn't catch fire on his way home from work today.

"Sit still Lexi!" Flick complained for the millionth time that night. "You seriously look like an idiot" "But why did you do my hair? It's not like anyone will see it" Lexi said as they pulled into the parking lot by the beach. "Plus I'll get creeped on by the perves that are here" She had begun to play with her hair. She looked stupid. "That's fun" she said pulling into a parking space, turning the engine off and getting out the car. Who knew that setting Jake and Lexi back up was going to be freaking hard?

Jake decided to walk to the beach rather than drive his shitty car. It wasn't that far of a walk, and God knows he needed some exercise. Since football season ended, Jacob had been the definition of lazy when he wasn't at school or at work. His hands were deep in his pocket as he took his first steps on the pale sand that was lit only by the moonlight and the few fires a couple people had built in order to see their way around. He smiled a little as a girl wearing nothing but a bikini jogged passed, holding a bottle of beer in one hand and laughing happily.
