If there was one thing that Teresa was happy about was the fact that she had been living in New York now for over four years. That her time away from Mystic had been the best thing that she had done. She had been staying at the Plaza when she first moved there, thanks to Jo who had been only too happy to help now that Lexi had been living in the UK, then she got her small apartment and it had been the first real place that she had lived on her own. Especially when she had moved from her own house into Graeme's amazing apartment but when she got her apartment she had truly found the freedom.
Then her path had crossed Barton's and they had started up their sexual relationship that had sailed towards an actual relationship and she was pretty sure that they would've made it official if it had been for the fight they had had aboard a SHIELD ship when her and Jesse had saved not only his ass but Caps and Nat's too. The fight had been pretty tough that it had caused Teresa and Barton to go their separate ways and again Teresa found the freedom though it always hurt like hell when she came across him at Stark tower when she went there to see Jesse and to do some training.
Though she was still looking over her shoulder thanks to SHIELD and their need to have people like her on a stupid Index. Though Hill had kept to her word and made sure that she was as invisible as she could make her and for a while she had tried to keep her abilities under control and with the gauntlets that Fitz had made for her she could but there was the fear that she would always end up destroying a building and have SHIELD agents banging her door down again only this time there wouldn't be Barton there to actually stop them. She would be dragged into the middle of god knows where to be poked and prodded.
It had been a few days after Teresa got back from the Triskellion that Agent Clarke had knocked on her door again only this time she had come back to apologise for what had happened, she had explained that what she had been doing was her job but she hated the fact that she had dragged her in that way and promised that she would never do it again especially when she knew someone on the Index herself, Teresa had asked her if she would drag that person in to if she had to and Amanda shook her head and told her that she wouldn't do that to that person but she knew there were people who would do it. Who would put the cuffs on and use the other tools that they had back at HQ and for a little while Teresa didn't want to sit there and let this woman get away with it but something in Teresa told her that maybe Kaito had been right, that Agent Clarke was actually a nice person even if she had called her a bitch and wanted to rip her pretty nails out of her fingers.
They left it like that and then when their own separate ways, pretty much like she was doing with everyone.
Then she and Stiles started hanging out, she would find herself at The Bugle after work and would bring him some food and coffee, then it turned into her taking him lunch and asking him out for food, then it was asking him over to her apartment for beer and pizza and sitting up on the roof under the stars as they talked about things and a friendship blossomed between them. Teresa had admitted that she had missed him so much that it hurt her even sitting there with him. He told her that he had missed her too and they got back to being friends. Then Jackson urged them to go out for a drink and for Stiles to show her around the best parts of New York.
Then Teresa came across something called Spider-man and her life literally changed, she would talk to him when they came across each other though it always looked like he was trying to get away from her, she wasn't one of those crazed fans that she would read about in the papers or who would wait to be rescued by the web-crawler but she did end up pretty interested in him.
Her friendship with Stiles then started to change with a kiss that they had been building up to, they would get close to doing it and then something would happen to make them back down from it and for a long time it would drive her wild. She was so frustrated in the end that she had grabbed hold of his shirt and they had kissed, it was soft, it was passionate and then it was over. They went on dates to Coney Island, they had movie nights with pizza's... they even talked about what happened when they broke up. Stiles admitting that after her mother died he hadn't been the one that she had needed, he understood that she had to be away from him and the supernatural and for those years that she had been with Graeme her life had been easy, no one died, no one was hurt. No vampire fights or werewolves banging on their door, unless you counted Jackson and sometimes Katherine. Her life had been quiet and ordinary and that's what she needed after her mother died.
Then Teresa found out Stiles' secret... he was Spider-man and in the beginning it had been a lot to take in but thinking back she knew she should've realised especially when everytime they were in the same room or space he would act weird and that's what Stiles had done. All the signs were there but she never actually connected the dots and she felt like a fool.
They started up a relationship and it was in it's third year and definitely a lot longer than the last one and Teresa was happier than she has ever been. Jackson had thrown them a party to congratulate them for getting back together. They went out on normal dates, sometimes even double dates with Jackson and whatever guy he had picked up that time. They would go out to karaoke bars and even though Teresa couldn't sing very well it didn't matter because she would get up there and sing a song. They went to the movies, when they could, dinner when things were a little calm and phoned in pizza when it wasn't.
Then COVID hit and Teresa got stuck in Mystic with her dad and Graeme and Stiles was in New York. They were separate once again and this time it wasn't due to a guy, though she hadn't let it be known that she had actually stayed with Graeme at the apartment rather than with her dad and she has never told anyone not even Jackson because it would get back to Stiles and she didn't want him to worry but unbeknownst to her he was pretty freaked out about her being in Mystic with the guy that she had left him for in the beginning. Though they did keep in contact through text and Zoom and he would always ask how she was getting on there and she would have to lie. Though everything in her knew it was wrong, she was doing it for the right reasons.
Teresa finally made it back to New York after a while and the two were reunited and she just wanted to lie in bed with him. To just forget about everything, she spent most of her time at his apartment even though she did have to admit that her own was actually a better place, there was no Miles and Stiles didn't have to worry about getting caught coming in and out with his Spider-man outfit. She finally got back to training with young and sarcastic at Stark Tower and sometimes coming face to face with Barton, who she was now friends with and was glad to actually have him back in her life.
Now Teresa was walking her way towards The Bugle, Stiles had told her to meet him there and she had grabbed him some lunch on the way there but then looked up and saw Spider-man swing overhead and she sighed because he was going in the complete opposite direction and she knew that lunch would have to wait. They had been together now for a while but she would never get used to the sight of Spider-man swinging through the city, even though one night Stiles had taken her up. She remembered it like it was yesterday "Hold on to me" he had said and he put his arm around her "Don't let me fall" she had replied "Never" he had whispered and she watched as his mask watched her. She had given him a soft smile and then put her arm around his shoulder and held on to her. "I'll meet you on the roof of the apartment" she said soft but loud enough that he would hear her when he swung over and she knew that he could hear her and she headed back in the direction of the apartment that Stiles spent the most of his time at because it allowed him the freedom even though he still had his and would go back there to see Miles and to let him know that he was okay.
Teresa was happy and so was Stiles and in the end that's all that mattered.
She headed back to her apartment and then walked up onto the roof space that she had claimed as her own, setting up her own archery range up there. That space was hers and hers alone and it was often used for her rendezvous with Spider-man to.
