Her heart was pounding hard in her chest and honestly she couldn’t blame it because of the amount of times she had been doing this. For some reason she woke up really early this morning and decided to come to Stark Tower and when she got here she asked if they could put some targets into the room downstairs because instead of training she wanted to do something else. She wanted to just use her bow and arrows, something that Teresa hadn’t used in a while.
Because of her new abilities she couldn’t do anything without making the room shake but here she was slowly getting control over everything. Teresa was living in New York and now she was a part of a team that seemed to specialise in abilities. Or at least Jesse helped her out anyway. Getting her to breathe and not let the anger take her over but sometimes it had been hard because of the fact that she was always getting calls that she didn’t want to take especially from her father who seemed to just piss her off more every time she spoke to him. Trying to keep herself from going through all of that well it was harder than she thought it would be.
Teresa grabbed an arrow and nocked it before pulling the string back and taking a soft breath she let the arrow go and watched as it hit the target. It had been a little bit since she had done this but it still felt good every time she came back to it and with Barton also being an archer she did have to admit that she did feel like a bit of competition even if she would be stupid enough to go up against him but she could still tease.
She looked down at her hands and smiled to herself because it meant that she was clearly in more control than she actually thought. This was a good thing because of the fact that she could still do her beloved archery. Teresa wouldn’t know what to do with herself if she had lost the ability to do that. It had taken her a while to get back in to it when Graeme had left her before but now that she had her love back she didn’t want to be parted from it again.
Teresa grabbed another arrow and nocked that one too before she bit on her lip and took the target on the left rather than the one in the middle. She didn’t think it would be too late to try new ways of doing archery, she was a fast learner and sure she could manipulate earthquakes but she still wanted to be able to do archery on her days off. Then a thought came to her and she put the bow down before she looked at the arrows and wondered if she could do something else. She hadn’t brought her gauntlets down with her so she wasn’t sure if she could try this but there was a thought.
She looked at her hands and chewed on her lip gently before she brought both of them up and felt the room shake around her. She wasn’t sure just how this would go but if she was going to be able to control herself then she would have to learn how to stop in the end. So she continued and then the room was still shaking but then rather than panic about everything she managed to stay calm and slowly the room started to stop shaking and a smile pulled at her lips.
But the smile then slid off her lips when she felt the pain in her hands and then sadly came to the conclusion that she wouldn’t be able to use her new abilities without the gauntlets on. If she wanted to continue to use her hands then she was going to have to protect them whenever she did use her abilities.
She might have a strong team here but at the same time it felt like whenever she took a step forward she took two steps back and it put her back where she didn’t want to be. Teresa wondered if she would ever be able to control the shaking enough that it didn’t actually hurt her anymore but sadly she knew that there was a risk with everything that she done.
Teresa reached down and grabbed her bow and another arrow because she wanted to get through the pain. She nocked the arrow and then tried to pull it back but she cried out in pain because the bruises hurt her hands and she bit down on her lip before she tried again and she cried out once more before she dropped the bow and arrow on the floor. She sat down and pulled her knees up to her chest and closed her eyes. Honestly how the hell she was going to get through all of this was going to test her very body to breaking point by the feel of it.
Sometimes it felt like she had a handle on it and then there were days when she didn’t but either way it was going to be a long road for Teresa. There were times when she thought about shutting people out but at the same time she needed them and she was okay with admitting that fact. Like the first time she went training, she went back to Barton’s apartment and well he decided to lay with her on the couch and just held onto her. For the first time she felt safe in his arms because she knew that he would be there for her. Hell all of them would be there for her.
Teresa chewed her lip gently before opening her eyes and looking around the room. She had been in here multiple times over the last few training days and this was the first time she actually felt like it was suited for her because it had targets that she could get.
There was no way that she was going to be able to get back into archery right now with her hands so sore so she stood up carefully and grabbed her bow, and the arrows, before heading back upstairs. She felt her cell vibrating in her pocket and she grabbed it out and saw the name on there and sighed under her breath. Stiles didn’t know about any of this right now. She wasn’t even sure what she would tell him if she did say something mostly because every time she tried to explain it herself it always sounded so bad. So in the end she tried not to really speak but she knew Stiles would keep on even if she rejected the call.
So she decided to answer it this time.
