"Not a good one at least." Adrian replies, that smile lingering as he lifts the beer and drinks a bit more. Even when he was young and human, his reputation wasn't exactly that of a good honest man. Most saw the trouble brimming right beneath the surface at first sight, a sort of renown he had more than enjoyed encouraging -- which is how he got here in the first place. And though the circumstances have changed, his hunger for trouble lessened, he still hasn't found himself anywhere close to the straight and narrow.
He laughs, a little more than he expected, at the joke she throws back at him, shaking his head and watching her -- both surprised and amused by just how cheesy it was. And he thought he was supposed to be the one with the bad jokes. "That was terrible," he teases her, "I hope you know that." But still the smile remains upon his lips, clearly finding it funny all the same.
The smile softens a little when Lexi turns a bit more serious, actually answering his question rather than delivering a bit more sarcasm. But the question she gives in return, shy and nervous like this is some first date where the both of them aren't quite sure what to expect or how to act, makes Adrian glance down to his glass for a moment, trying to figure out how to actually answer that. "That's actually why I asked." He admits, glancing back up. "I would not imagine a hunter's daughter sitting across from one so easily like this. I expected more knives and threats."

Lexi snorts before shaking her head “Of course not because why would anyone have a good rep” she smirked before looking over at him. This was actually fun and she was glad that she wasn’t messing this drink up because while it wasn’t a date she also didn’t want to get on the wrong side of anyone. She hoped her presence in London wasn’t going to stir any trouble for any of the supernatural beings that were here.
She shrugged because honestly she didn’t care how bad it was but couldn’t help the grin all the same. But Lexi did have to admit that it was terrible but it was too good to pass up and now that she hadn’t she was feeling a little bit lighter than she usually was. Even if it was just a drink she hadn’t been out with anyone for a while and was glad to get out for a little bit.
Adrian then spoke about her being a hunter’s daughter and she bit on her lip gently. She wondered if she should tell him but she found herself opening up anyway whether he wanted to hear it. “I might be a hunter’s daughter and sure I have a knife back home I’m the States but I can honestly tell you that I have never hunted in my life” she admitted and watched him. “I have had a somewhat normal upbringing apart from knowing what is out there in the dark, I have met my father once and it’s something I will never get over but that is just something to deal with on my own” she bit on her lip for a moment. “You might have dealt with hunter’s in the past and I’m sorry if you did but I’m not here to hurt anyone, I am here for family research and that only..” she watches him and then clears her throat.
“Hunter’s might not like to sit with the supernatural but I’m not a hunter so I don’t mind sitting across from a vampire or taking a spirit for dinner” she grinned once more. “I’m not here to hurt you, Adrian, I hope that you know that”

Adrian smiles a little and glances back down to the table. Her nonchalance is endearing. Far better than a wilting flower fainting at the very thought of what he might be, and infinitely better for his survival than a knife-brandishing huntress out for the kill. But it still strikes him as a little curious. She may never have hunted herself, may believe herself to have had a normal upbringing, but that still does not change the fact that vampires do not have the best reputation. They're not werewolves, who only turn monstrous once a month and never on their own free will. They're not shape-shifters or witches or elves who choose their own morality.
He's a predator. Down to his DNA. Constantly aware of each heart beat and each sudden movement and each tickle of thirst at the back of his throat. There are vampires older than him, wiser than him, better than him, who still would not hesitate to sink their teeth into her pretty, long neck, just to feel her squirm.
And yet Lexi thinks he's worried about her hurting him.
He twists his pint around with careful fingers, glancing back up to her as she says those last few words. He draws in a slow, thoughtful breath, letting that sink in comfortably. After a moment, he murmurs, "And you're not worried about me hurting you?"

Lexi watches him and then he asks her whether or not she’s worried about him hurting her and honestly she wasn’t and that could be a problem because she hadn’t thought about him hurting her. He was a predator and he could easily kill her out in the street, drain her blood and leave her for someone else to find if that is what he would do but just sitting across from him she could tell that he was in control or at least in as much control as he seemed right now.
She levelled her eyes with his and then shook her head “I’m not worried about you hurting me” she admitted and gave a soft smile. “That might make me seem soft and stupid but I don’t honestly care.” She chewed on her lip for another moment and looked down at her wine once more.
Lexi probably should’ve thought more about whether she was worried about him hurting her but if he wanted to do it then he had more than enough chances. She broke into his apartment and was there yesterday too. If he wanted to hurt her then he probably would’ve done it by now. She put her eyes on him. “Do you?” She asked after a moment “want to hurt me that is” she watched him once more.
Would it change her from wanting to speak with him right now? She doubted it very much.

Adrian watches her, once again surprised by her -- something that's becoming a little bit of a habit. He doubts any of her family would share the same sort of sentimentality. He doubts any other person in this pub or this city or this country would either. But he doesn't give a shit about their opinions. If he did, he wouldn't be talking so openly about this in a public place, surrounded by people all chatting and drinking and looking for a hint of gossip. But he does. Because he knows no one is really listening. And if they are, the likelihood of them believing a word they're saying or even so much as understanding through the haze of free-flowing beer and poured shots is slim. He knows this best of all about bars. Known this since he was old enough to sit under tables while Thorin discussed business with old allies.
His smile ticks a little further at her, not wanting to put a name to it but knowing that it's relief easing his shoulders.
"No," he tells her, simply, giving a slow blink. Adrian has no reason to lie. No need to. Hurting her has not crossed his mind once since bumping into her unexpectedly at the cafe two days ago. "I left that part of my life a long time ago."
He keeps his eyes on her as he takes another sip of his ale.

If Lexi is being honest she never thought she would ever be in this position, sitting across from anything supernatural let alone a vampire and asking him if he wanted to hurt her. She has to admit that his answer surprised her a little, not him not wanting to hurt her but what he had said after that. How he had left that life behind.
If he was to tell that to any other hunter then they would probably sit here and laugh and no doubt say that it was in a vampires nature to hurt people but here was a vampire sitting across from her right now telling her that he didn’t want to hurt her. A soft smile pulled at her lips and she felt his eyes on her. He was watching her as he took a sip of his drink.
There was something about this guy that actually made her want to prolong her staying here, maybe even to get to know him a little better but with her face looking so much like his ex love then she wasn’t sure he would want her to stay or even see each other passed tonight. Her eyes were staying on his for a little bit, holding onto the look. Honey on brown. Before she then finally said “Do you want to get out of here? There is whiskey back in the minibar and I’m kinds worried that I’m going to keep getting hit everytime someone walks passed” she huffs out a soft laugh.
“That is if you want too, no pressure or anything”

The quiet settles thickly between them, neither awkward nor uncomfortable, neither hesitant nor cautious. He keeps his eyes on hers as she looks back to him, setting the beer back down, barely tasting it anymore. A part of him knows he should be wary of this pause they've found themselves in. A pause he's known plenty of times over the years. Despite the topic of their conversation, he can't help but feel the glimmer of a pull, something unsaid hovering in the air between them, as if their admissions to not wanting to hurt the either lit a spark. This, that very possibility, is why he had been second-guessing coming here tonight. The words she'd left him hanging on as she left his flat the day before only adding more fuel to what is already a messy situation.
But though a voice keeps chanting at him to get up and leave, to pretend like there isn't anything, any teasing, any spark, he also can't help but think how it's been a damn long time he's gotten along with someone so immediately. Truly gotten along.
It took centuries for him and Katherine to even look at each other with more than vague interest.
Lexi finally breaks the quiet, holding his gaze as she speaks, inviting him away from these crowds and their easily forgotten drinks, still hanging on to that nonchalance. He smiles a little. "Yeah," he replies with a slight nod. "It is a little too busy here, isn't it."

She can’t help but smile when he accepted the invitation back to her hotel room. At least there they could talk more privately about the supernatural if need be or just knock back little bottles of whiskey and have a fun time. Lexi finished up her wine and put the glass back on the table before grabbing her coat. She made sure to put it on before leaving because while it was apparently spring in the UK they had been having winter every few weeks come back to bite their ass and it was definitely a little colder.
The two of them walked back to her hotel room and made small conversation mostly about how she was getting on with her family history and honestly she had come to a bit of a stop but that had been something she had to work out herself. Something that was very convenient for her was the fact that the small pub had been a little bit of a walk from her hotel room. It’s probably why she had chosen it in the first place because she could get there and back without worrying about a taxi.
They went up to her floor and the corridor was quiet or at least she didn’t have his hearing so she couldn’t hear what he would be able too but she knew he could feel her heart pounding hard in her chest as she put the key card into the lock and then pushed the door open. She flicked the lights on before heading in. Lexi removed her jacket and put it in the chair near the window and then walked over to the minibar to grab two bottles out for the both of them.
“It’s nothing much but it’s a home from home for now” she admitted and smiled before she slid the bottle over towards him. Jo was paying for all of this and no doubt Lexi would have to pay it back over the next ten years but for now she was talking full advantage of everything in this room including the alcohol that was in the minibar.
Lexi opened the bottle of whiskey and knocked it back before hissing slightly. She really hated the taste of it but right now it was trying to calm the nerves she had in her about Adrian being here in her room. It wasn’t bad nerves but there was definitely something brewing there between them.

Adrian picks up his jacket on their way out of the door, neither one of them needing any more convincing. He tugs it on as they step out into the cold, clearing a path out onto the sidewalk and holding the door open for Lexi. The streets are still busy this time of night, this city hardly ever knowing a moment's rest, but the walk back to her hotel is easy and quick enough. He resists the urge to reach for a cig, not wanting to smoke her out for a stupid habit that keeps him more busy than giving him any real satisfaction. But with the present circumstances, he's tempted.
She leads him up to her room, the hotel no ragged low-cost inn. He's never stayed here himself, but he can almost smell the money leaking through the walls. It's fairly quiet, though he can hear the low murmurs of conversations and heartbeats each pounding to a different rhythm. He blocks it out, setting his attention instead on Lexi a she opens the door and flicks on the lights and lets him in.
He lets the door close quietly behind himself as his brown eyes track over the room. It's just as nice as the rest of this place, making him almost snort when she calls it nothing much. For much of his life, he would have killed to have a room as stately as this, having lived in a literal barn at one time. "You're right," Adrian comments, stepping a little further in and sliding his hands into the pockets of his dark jeans, "A bit shabby." He says, the sarcastic plain on his tongue but his face turns amusingly unimpressed. He slides his eyes back towards her as a smile finds its way there instead, before taking the bottle she hands to him.
Lexi is already knocking hers back by the time he gives his own a small twist of the top, hissing at the taste. His smile tugs a little further at that. He leans a shoulder against a wall, twisting the top off the rest of the way, "Do I make you nervous?" He asks her, before lifting the bottle to his own lips and letting the whiskey slide down his throat with ease.

Adrian speaks and asks if he makes her feel nervous and she moved her eyes over to wafch him leaning against the wall and then he drank his own whiskey and she was silent for a moment. She was pretty sure he knew that he was making her nervous just like how her heart was pounding hard in her chest. He must be a very well trained vampire if he really didn’t want to sink his teeth into her neck because of the pounding of her heart.
She drops her eyes down and looks at the minibar once more and is tempted to have another drink. This time something else, something that she liked and something that she could drink with no problem but the last thing she wanted was for him to think that she was an alcoholic knocking back all these small bottles.
Lexi brought her eyes back up to his face and instead of moving to the bar she moved slowly towards him and when she was in front she looked up at him, her honey coloured eyes looking into his brown ones. “I think you already know the answer to that” she whispered softly before she let her eyes fall to his lips before leaning up and brushing hers against his. Lexi knew she probably shouldn’t tease him but she wanted him so badly. She wanted to take him to bed for one night.

She says nothing for a moment, but he can hear the pounding of her heart against her ribs, quick and drumming. Even just a century ago, hearing that would have tested his resilience, the strength of his own self-control. He had fallen off the wagon too many times because of that sound reverberating through his skull like a call to arms, the rush of blood through thin veins more lulling than all the waves in all the oceans. But as she moves towards him, eyes setting back upon his, it's not that thirst he's thinking of.
He lowers the small bottle down to his side, holding it by its narrow neck between two fingers, letting his own eyes set upon hers as she comes to stand right before him. The scent of her washes over him, more alluring here in an empty room than in that crowded pub. She rises up, her words barely a whisper, and brushes her mouth against his, silencing the voice at the back of his head still telling him to turn back from this.
His own lips part a little in response, chasing after hers to catch her in a soft kiss. Her mouth still tastes like whiskey and wine, warm beneath his. Adrian parts just slightly, hovering close, eyes skimming back over her face. "You make me nervous too." He admits, voice a low murmur.

He kisses her and his lips are soft too and definitely not what she had expected from a vampire but she guessed that she had watched too many movies growing up. Then he parted from her lips but they were still close and he admitted that she made him nervous. That was understandable about even with a face she shared with Katherine, Lexi was a completely different person to the woman he had known years before. Lexi was human and softer in places that Katherine probably wasn’t. Adrian probably knew how to handle Katherine but Lexi was someone new. Yet that didn’t stop him from kissing her.
Lexi felt his eyes over her face and she liked the way that he would look over her. His brown eyes scanning. She looked over his face for and her eyes kept coming back to his lips each and every time. She slowly closed the small gap between them and brushed her lips back against his again. Letting him feel the softness of them even though he already knew what it was like to kiss her.
She slowly moved her lips from his and nudged his cheek with her nose gently before she brushed her lips back against his making sure not to kiss him just yet “Is that because you want me right now?” She asked. He could probably still hear her heart pounding in her chest and that was all down to him because of the fact that there was definitely something there between them. Whether it was just lust she wasn’t sure but either way she wasn’t going to hurt him if he did decide to give into her.
To give in and take her to bed.

Adrian pulls a slow breath into unused lungs when her lips brush back against his, teasing and soft, dancing around a kiss. Her question falls hotly against his mouth, as he inclines his head just a tick to the side, teeth clicking together. Common sense would tell him to say no. Common sense would tell him that he's willingly walking into a hurricane of trouble, as that is all her bloodline has ever known. Common sense would tell him that he's just letting Katherine break his heart all over again.
But standing here with Lexi, the scent of whiskey and honey upon her, it is not Katherine he's thinking of. It's not Katherine's lips he wants to kiss. Not Katherine's bed sitting just at the corner of his eye. Not Katherine's heart beating so close to his own hollow chest. The similarities stopped long ago, the vampire queen's dark shadow replaced by this woman dripping gold over his nerves, dulling what common sense he might have had.
"Yes," He admits, finding no reason to lie or hide. His free hand lifts towards her, tips of his fingers stroking up the side of her leg until his palm finds its way to her waist, feeling the warmth of her soak into his fingertips and spread up his forearm. "Do you want me?" He asks her in return. His mouth falls away from hers, brushing gently across hers along the way and won over the curve of her jaw. "Or do I already know the answer to that one as well?" He lays a kiss tenderly at her throat, feeling her pulse against his tongue.

Lexi liked it when he said that he did want her and the next thing she knows is his hand moving up her leg to her waist and she can feel the coldness from him underneath her clothes and yet it doesn’t bother her. It’s part of who he is, it’s part of him being a vampire. He brushed his lips against hers and then moved to her jawline and asked her if she wanted him. She wanted him from the second that she teased him the day before saying that she wanted to take him back to her hotel room and then there was the hot sex dream the night before.
Of course he didn’t need to hear about that.
Lexi knew that she shouldn’t fall into bed with him, if her mother knew about this then she would be making sure that Adrian stayed away from her for good. But right now her mother wasn’t here and it was just the two of them. Instead of answering with her voice especially after he kissed her neck which made her heart give a hard thump, she moved her hand down to his and took the bottle of whiskey from his hand before passing it to the other one and putting it on the side.
She then looked back at him and let a soft smile pull at her lips before she took his hand in hers and pulled him towards the bed. With the strength that he had probably want used to doing things like this but right now she just wanted to get him away from that wall. Lexi stopped at the bottom of the bed and turned before she looked back at him.
“I think you already know the answer to that” she said and then kissed him once more this time a little harder and she pushed his jacket off of his shoulders and let it fall into the floor.

He lets the bottle leave his fingers as she takes it from him, setting it aside out of the way to be completely forgotten. Her hand wraps around his and draws him from the wall, leading him to the bed just a few steps away where he follows willingly, no longer thinking of what he should be doing. Her eyes find his again, her words filling the heavy air around their heads, her lips pressing hard to his. He matches the kiss, rolling his shoulders to help rid himself of the black jacket, drinking her in as it falls to the ground behind him. His palms find her hips, fingers slipping up beneath the hem of her shirt as he pulls her tight against him, feeling the way her body aligns against his, feeling the warmth of her bare skin against his fingertips.
Never all that patient, he pulls his hands back away just to tug at the buttons of her shirt, peeling them undone with practiced fingers, until her shirt falls open before him. He slants his mouth against hers, parting her mouth with his own to steal the air from her lungs in a long inhale, and letting his palms find their way against the now-exposed skin beneath the folds of her shirt, skimming over her side to the small of her back and up her spine.
"What was that you said?" He murmurs, drawing his lips just a sliver from her own, his lidded eyes looking back over her face. A small, wry smile tugs at his lips, "Something about getting me out of these clothes?" He teases, before catching her mouth once more and tugging the shirt from her shoulders to let it slip down her arms to the floor.
