Her eyes went everywhere trying to take it all in. She was over 700 years old but she has never seen this place so alive with people. Back when she was here last all it was... well it wasn’t like this. It brought a smile to her face to see how London had changed so much in the time she hadn’t been there.
Everything moved on and yet there was still so much to see, still so many things that were updating everytime. Katherine had seen some places in this world but they were constantly changing so nothing would be boring, nothing would be the same and for that she was glad, a part of her didn't want to be reminded of that night in 1888.
Right now she felt like any other tourist that had come to London but even she was amazed at how everything looked.
"First time, love?" the taxi driver asked and looked at her through his mirror.
Katherine slowly moved her eyes away from the window and looked over at him with a soft smile. "I was here many years ago but I don't remember it looking like this" she admitted.
"American?" he asked.
Katherine pushed her eyebrows a bit closer. Did she sound american after all those years of living in America? She wasn't sure but either way no she wasn't American. "Bulgarian" she said after a moment. It was the closest she could get to her language without explaining everything and then having to compel him to forget.
"Never had a Bulgarian in my cab before, welcome to London love" he said with a smile before putting his eyes back on the road.
Katherine turned her eyes away once with a smile on her lips again before looking out of the window. Welcome to London indeed.
There was this little fear in her that her ghosts would be waiting for her as soon as she had got off the plane but at the moment everything seemed to be in working order, nothing seemed to pop out of her and oh god they were in central London! She wondered if Maria looked after the house after she had signed it over, was it still there? Did it stay a brothel or did she turn it into something else? Katherine was tempted to find out just what had happened to the house after they had left all those years ago. After all it had been a long time to keep everything pushed away.
She knew in the end she would have to face up to her ghosts because she couldn't run away from them forever, but for now she could push them back so that she was ready to deal with them another day. Not today.
Definitely not today.
