She pulls him aside to a set of steps leading into an unmarked building, and together they sit upon them. As Katherine speaks, he watches her, letting her words soak in, letting the truth of it all clear out the cobwebs of angst and despair that had been collecting for months now. The guilt remains, the unarguable fact that he let impulse and the desire to escape outweigh the very woman who has been at his side for centuries remains too, but perhaps his biggest mistake was letting himself convince himself that he is alone.
"Just because it might have been bound to happen, doesn't mean it should have." He murmurs a moment after she has finished, letting his eyes settle back upon hers. "I am sorry, Kat. None of the rest matters but that. I'm sorry."
Jon drops his eyes back to the concrete, his elbows resting upon his knees and his head hanging a little as they sit together there. He does not know what else to say. Does not know how to make it right. But maybe atonement is not possible here and now. Only time will tell.

Katherine listens to him apologise and she couldn't take it. His words so sad, so sorrowful that it made her look down. "I know you are, I know you're sorry" she admitted and nodded. "But you have to listen to me" she said and slowly looked up at him. "You're not alone, you're not. You, me, Edric and Hati we're a family and Tessa and whoever else we've met that is like us, Jackson, hell even Stiles. We're all a family and sure families screw up sometimes but they are there when we need them and I will be here whenever you need me but right now... I need some time"
It hurt her to say that. Hell time is pretty much easy to them. Katherine loves him, she loves him with everything and she would be stupid to say that she hasn't tried something like this but in the end the two of them always bounced back to each other. The two of them moving back in each other's arms. It would happen again. "I like Tessa, she's a good person" she said and nodded. "Just don't tell her that because I was bitchy to her, she's even tried to palm me off with those books that she's been reading" Katherine laughed softly and looked down.
"You are lucky to have her as a friend because she is one of the good ones" Katherine nodded and then looked over at him.

"I know," Jon says with a nod, looking to the concrete and rubbing his palms slowly together. He would be a fool to expect Katherine to suddenly welcome him back with open arms only moments after finding out he's slept with another woman. And if there is anything they have plenty of, it's time. Jon could give that to her. He can wait as long as she needs. Neither one of them is in any rush.
Katherine mentions Tessa, the anger subsided just enough to allow her a small laugh. Jon gives a faint smile, mirthless and tired, but a smile all the same. He does not know if being friends with her is an option. Not after this. A part of him, the small optimistic part, wants to believe that he hasn't just completely ruined his relationships with two women, but the world rarely works that way. But he would try to make amends with Tessa anyway. In a world where immortals are either rare or monsters, having a good one as a friend would not hurt. Though he cannot risk hurting Katherine again either.
"I'm luckier to have you." He admits.
A raven cries in the distance, and Jon's gaze flicks in that direction, a small furrow forming between his brows.

Katherine watched him while he looked down, she's the type of person who hurts and does get jealous but at the same time she has been with the same man for seven centuries. They had pledged their love to each other in Westeros and she never thought she would be still alive but everything had changed when she was bitten.
Everything had been amplified a thousand times so the love she felt for Jon had been turned up a hell of a lot, everything had felt like it was so much more higher and not just her hearing and her sight.
Though there was one thing she hadn't seen and that was how lonely Jon had been. How alone he felt and how much of a burden he felt to them but to her. God he definitely wasn't that to her, he was the love of her life. He was the man that she loved and would love forever.
Katherine looked over at him when he said he was luckier to have her and she chuckled softly before looking down. "You're right, I have really great hair" she said and smirked over at him. "But if she makes you feel less lonely then do what you need to do, I will be here waiting for you whenever you need me again" she whispered at him.

They sit together for a little while longer, the panic and despair slowly leaving his veins as the tension between them lessens and lessens. By the time Katherine leaves, the world seems to have quieted once more. He knows this is not the end of it. That Katherine will have to take that time she needs before its ever completely okay between them again, but he no longer feels like he may lose her completely.
And for the moment, that is good enough.
Jon walks back to the bookshop after a moment, though he debates just walking for some time to clear his mind before he faces Tessa too. But his feet carry him down the steps and back through the door, stepping in a little timidly after all that had happened. The bell dings, the quiet resumes, and he prepares himself for this too. Pushing his hair back with long fingers, he searches the shop for Tessa, finding her nearly right where he left her.
A small smile finds his lips. "Hey."

If she was honest, she was worried that she would lose the friendship that she had struck up with Jon, sure they had slept together and that had felt really good. They both needed a friend, a friend that was just as lonely as she was. But she did wonder just what Katherine had to say, when Tessa didn't see her behind him a little bit of her felt relief. Mostly because of the fact that she didn't want another angry Katherine in her shop. Katherine had been a constant in her life turning up every year and always at the end of a phone should she need her but Tessa had found it hard to pick up the phone and say to Katherine that she was in need of a friend and that was why she had felt lonely.
She watched him and then smiled softly. Tessa had grabbed the pie and coffee off the side where he had left it and put it on the table where they had sat before. "I left the drinks if you're in need of one" she didn't need to know what Katherine had said. The angry vampire would come around in the end. It had been stupid and foolish but at the same time she had felt not lonely for a night. It had felt good to have someone there with her and Tessa wasn't the type that would hurt anyone else but Jon had quickly become her friend and she would love to keep that.
"You don't have to apologise if that's what you're here for" she said after a moment "You, like Katherine, are my friend and an angry vampire girlfriend isn't going to stop me from wanting to share this bookshop with you, to share just a moment of normal-ness in a crazy world so if you don't want to be friends then that is fine but know that I am here if you need a friend"

"I could probably use a splash of whiskey in my coffee, to tell the truth," Jon says, huffing out half a laugh as he moves to join her at the table. He stands behind a chair, setting his palms upon the backrest and leaning onto it. Despite how strangely well things had ended outside, his nerves still prickle with leftover adrenaline, making him feel far too restless to sit at the moment.
He smiles a little towards her when she offers to still be his friend, even after enduring the wrath of a reasonably angry vampire. He does not know how she found out about the two of them, didn't even want to ask. Making amends seemed far more important than finding out how he had gotten caught. "I'm glad," he says with a small, thankful nod. "Katherine knows you're a good person and a good friend." He tells her, not wanting to leave Tessa thinking that she'd shoved aside for good. "She just...needs time. And perhaps a better boyfriend." He adds on the last part a little teasingly, though the small laugh that follows does not carry a lot of amusement.
"Anyway," Jon shakes his head a little, pulling in a breath. "It'd be a shame to let the pie go to waste."

"Well I can't offer whiskey but I'm sure the coffee will kick you up the butt" she said around a soft smile. Tessa's eyes moved towards the door when he spoke about Katherine knowing that she was a good person. Although there was a wonder whether or not she had really said that but it was Katherine when something really pissed her off everyone knew about it because she would make their lives a living hell and at the moment Tessa didn't see that. She didn't see Katherine coming in here with a pitch fork and vampire teeth out wanting her neck. Even if there was a moment when she thought Katherine would rip her throat out.
Tessa looked over at Jon when he spoke again about her needing time and that she needs a better boyfriend. "The one thing I know is that Katherine will love you even if you brought on the end of the world, she's loved you for the last seven hundred years, time isn't going to change that. She's not going to suddenly decide that now she doesn't love you, there is too much history between you two and in the end you'll work it out" she looked down at the pie and then picked up a fork that she had grabbed from the back room and held it up for him.
"After all we did have a lunch date and it would be a shame to waste the pie" a smile pulled at her lips. She was happy that in the end they could remain friends, even if they couldn't do the benefit thing but whatever happened there would actually have to wait til they could sit and talk properly where things weren't so up in the air. He needed a friend right now and not a lover and a friend is what she was going to be.
