A couple of hours into the flight and Evie falls asleep leaving a quietness over the cockpit of the jet and she wakes up a little bit before they land. She looks up with Valkyrie says about the fact that they were there and she bites down on her lip, a feeling settling in her stomach and she wasn't sure what it actually was. Evie watched as Valkyrie moved away from the cockpit before she undoes the seat belt and stands up.
That has got to have been the most uncomfortable flight she has ever had and she has had a lot but somehow she managed to fall asleep, it must be from the fact that she was still really tired. She rubbed at her neck and then moved towards the cargo bay after Valkyrie leaves the jet. There was that feeling in her stomach again, was it emotional from being back? Or could it be the fact that she was emotional from everything that had really happened.
Evie steps off the jet and she looks around and knew that her father would be there soon because there was no way that he would let someone in his office see Valkyrie because he had eyes everywhere and seeing someone walk in like them would make things a little bit bad and she wasn't sure if her father would be able to explain why he had hired someone like Valkyrie. Even if it was to locate his missing daughter, she doubted that even the papers knew about her disappearance and if they didn't then she was thankful for that because it meant that they could still keep things private.
It was a good idea to meet in an abandoned warehouse because it meant they had more privacy.
There was a light breeze that blew her hair and tickled her skin but it felt so good to have that because it meant that she wasn't still in the basement in Rio. It meant that she was actually a step closer to getting home.
Evie hesitated for a moment before she asked. "After this is done, what you going to do?" she asked and looked over at Valkyrie. It was a random question but a part of her was actually interested in where Valkyrie would be going next.

Evie follows her off the plane a few paces behind, not in the excited rush that Valkyrie had anticipated a girl finally coming home would be in. She's making her way to the front door, exhaustion beginning to settle in to her bones at the thought of even a minute of sleep after this, when she hears Evie speak behind her. Pausing with her hand on the door, Val turns to look back.
It's a question no one asks, or wants to asks. In the long line of jobs Valkyrie has taken since leaving Taskmaster's school, they've all ended rather...bloodily. People always just assume she's going to do more of the same somewhere else, another name on another bullet in another town. No one ever wants to know the details. But Evie actually looks interested. Like she hasn't just seen the bodies that Val can leave behind on a good day. She's quiet for a moment, her green eyes turning away as she debates giving an honest answer or giving the kind of answer Evie might be looking for.
"Sleep." She finally says, looking back. "Eat. Look for other work."

Evie watches Valkyrie for a moment when they make their way over to the door and then stops and looks back at her. It was probably a question they weren't expecting but for some reason she had been nosy and wanted to know if there was anything else they were doing after they left her in the hands of her father. A person like Valkyrie was always in need so there wouldn't be a shortage of work for them.
"Sleep does sound good" she admitted with a slight smile "And so does food for that matter" she nodded and then looked around once more. Evie couldn't wait to get some sleep and food in her system. That sandwich that Valkyrie had given her had been enough to keep the hunger off for a little while but she still wanted something else and a nice greasy burger with fries would be the best remedy for this.
"Well I'm sure you will always be in need when work comes into it" she gave another slight smile before walking into the building behind Valkyrie. From what she had seen when in Valkyrie's custody there would always be someone out there who needed something done and would call on them to get it done. Evie would probably be asleep in the ride back home if she was lucky and would pray that she wouldn't have any lasting effects when it came to what had happened. She needed to leave all of this behind and she was going to do that when she has a bath, let it wash down with all the dirt and muck.
Let the hot water wash away everything that had happened in Rio.

Valkyrie pulls open the door, but watches Evie silently for a moment, letting her words digest slowly. But they still sound wrong in her head. Not because Evie is wrong, not because there's any lack of need for Val's specialty, but because she says it like such a good thing. Like her work is something necessary, not just the whims of violent people hiring a violent person. And it's something Val has never heard before.
They step into the warehouse, Val still trying to make sense of it, and move towards the same area Simon waited for them last time. But upon getting there, Val turns on a heel to look back at Evie, her brows pressed close beneath the mask. "What is it exactly you think I do?" She asks, knowing that Evie clearly isn't stupid but wondering if there was somehow missed communication. If the bodies Val had laid upon the ground had sent an entirely different message. If there was some form of heroism interpreted here that does not exist. "I'm an assassin." Valkyrie says, making that very clear. "My job is to kill people. Sometimes innocent people. Sometimes people like you." The words might come across as harsh, the modulator making the horrible truth behind them even more pronounced. "The only reason that wasn't the case this time is because your father paid me enough. It could very well have been me who kidnapped you. And I sure as hell would have done a better job."
But she wouldn't have. Kidnapping is not her game. Not when they could so easily turn into someone like her.

Evie walks into the building and looks around now she can see why her father would meet Valkyrie here because it was a dump and no one would think that a billionaire would meet people here so it gave the perfect cover.
She pushed her eyebrows together and looked over at Valkyrie when they asked what she thought they did and before she could answer they spoke. She then sighed "I know what you are" she admitted and looked over at them "if you want heroes then you have people like Captain America for that" she shrugged up a shoulder. She actually quite liked the look of cap. Handsome, heroic.
Evie might be classed as an airhead to some people but when they first met she had asked Valkyrie if they were there to kill her and they had been to the point that unfortunately for them, but fortunately for her, they hadn't been. She sorta grasped that was what they did then. It's probably why they found killing her mother that easily. "And that is why there is always going to be work because someone is going to hire assassins and trust me I'm not saying what you do is good or anything but as long as our paths don't cross again then really what you do is your business"
Really she was just passing the time til her dad got there.
Evie was spared from talking again because she heard the slam of a car door and breathed a sigh of relief. She could finally go home.

Val huffs out a slight breath, muttering the name "Captain America," almost condescendingly as she turns away from Evie. "A pretty poster boy for an organization that kills more people than it saves." She says, shaking her head slightly and lifting her eyes to the high steel rafters. "At least I'm honest about my crimes."
A car door slams beyond on the other side of the warehouse wall, and Valkyrie lets the small moment of frustration go with a deliberating, slow exhale. Her eyes slip closed for a moment, before she turns back to face the door.
She's still waiting for the other shoe to drop. Waiting for something to relieve the tension that's been riding her back ever since Simon handed her the first briefcase full of money. Even now, with Evie standing moments away from home sweet home, something doesn't sit right with her. Everything feels on edge, like a weight balancing on a very thin wire that could fall on either side. Maybe it's because there was no climax. No resolution. Just a dead, estranged mother and an unplaced need for her. Any lackey with a semi-automatic could have brought Evie home. Perhaps not as quickly, and certainly not for the price Valkyrie demanded, but it even an FBI agent paid under the table could have pulled this off. And the FBI is useless.

Evie wasn't sure what Valkyrie meant by that but she didn't have time to ask because in walked her father. It felt like everything the last few days hadn't really happened and there was a light going on in her. It was weird to think that this really was how she was seeing her dad again. It felt strange to know that he had moved heaven and earth to get her back and now she was here.
He was here too carrying a briefcase.
She watched as relief took over his face and she knew in that second that he would stop worrying about her for a little while because he got her back. She didn't even mind the fact that he called her by her proper name "Evelyn"
Evie moved over to him and put her arms around him in a hug that made her feel that much emotion again. She felt hot tears burn the back of her eyes and but she didn't want to let them fall.
After a moment of emotion between the two of them Simon turned to Valkyrie and handed over the briefcase "it's all in there" he admitted before looking back at Evie. All things considered she didn't look too hurt. He was glad to have her back and he wasn't going to be lax on his security again because this can't and won't ever happen again.
Evie turned back to look at Valkyrie for a moment. "You know that sometimes kids need to believe in something and while you clearly don't like him, that is captain America where as you will be classed as a villain, that's just how the world works" she admitted and watched them with her grey-blue eyes and for a moment thought that maybe Valkyrie didn't care if they were the villain or not because while they had apologised about what had happened with her mother.. underneath all of that they still were the assassin that they had been when they had walked into the bar in Rio and got her.
She gave Valkyrie a slight smile before she headed towards the car, Simon being the one that stayed for a moment.

Simon rushes in, and he and Evie waste no time in expressing their relief and happiness. Val stands to the back, silent, watching the pair of them embrace as they reunite. After a moment, she looks away.
It takes a few minutes before they finally release each other, and Simon hands another silver briefcase towards her. Valkyrie takes it, and flips open the switches with her gloved fingers. Lifting the lid, she glances inside, counting the money for the correct amount. Satisfied, she closes it, and lets her eyes shift towards Evie who doesn't leave without having the last word.
"Sweetheart," Val says, lowering the briefcase by the handle to dangle at her armored side, "I was made to be the villain." And then the girl is gone. Valkyrie turns her gaze towards Simon in a slow, purposeful blink. "Your problem is taken care of. Your daughter's safe. Are we done here?" She asks, watching him carefully, still feeling like something isn't right here. Nothing is ever this clean. This easy.

Simon looks back at Evie when she's in the car before he looks back at Valkyrie "Actually there is one more thing I want you to do and there is extra money in the briefcase for it" he admitted. Simon wanted Evie out the way because it was bad enough that she knew he had hired Valkyrie in the first place but to know about the fact that he needed one more job doing.
"There is a guy that has stolen some of my tech and I want both it back and him dead so that it'll teach the others that they can't take something that wasn't theirs the problem is that he's pretty high up" he admitted and then watched Valkyrie. He had heard that they were pretty good at assassinations so if they wanted this job then it was theirs but if not then he was sure he could find someone else to do it maybe not as good but he was sure there was someone out there willing to do something.
But Simon never wanted any of this to come back to him at the same time so it was totally deniability on his part. It was strange to think that he would be doing this especially when he hasn't hurt anyone before, sure he's pissed people off to the point that they would kidnap his daughter but before this he's never wanted anyone dead. Now this was two killings that he has asked Valkyrie to do for him.

Valkyrie arches her brow beneath her mask, staring at Simon for a long moment. Dealing with a kidnapping was one thing. He'd been desperate and foolish enough to call her number above anyone else's and Val had been willing to branch out a little for the cash. But now an assassination? Five minutes after delivering his lost daughter to her? Either Simon has a newfound appreciation for playing dirty to get what he wants, or he's exactly the kind of corrupt businessman Val had initially pegged him to be.
She'd bet money on the former.
"My, my." Val comments, inclining her head slightly to the side. "Looks like Mr. Black is moving up in the world." Her voice is laced in sarcasm, but a slight smile tugs at her mouth beneath the mask anyway. "Give me a name and it's done." She adds on, losing the amusement to return back to business. "But you're going to have to pay me a lot more than loose change you tossed in here with the rest." She gives the briefcase a little wiggle.

He never used to be like this in fact he never really liked to play dirty with anything even if people thought he was stupid, he definitely wasn't. He knew when things got out of hand and when they didn't and with Evie back it meant that he could actually get to the real problem. Yes his daughter had been kidnapped and he had needed her back but this was the problem that didn't seem to go away.
People coming into his works and taking things from him that didn't belong to them. No he was going to make an example of this guy especially when he wanted the tech back. He glanced back at Evie who was waiting in the car for him but then looked back at Valkyrie "Done but then after this I never want to work with you again" he admitted.
Simon then went on to tell Valkyrie that a Senator Sanders had taken tech that hadn't both been ready and wasn't to be used for whatever it was they were using it for. He wanted it back and for this to then all be over. Simon was the one employing Valkyrie so really if he wanted to end it he could by just giving them the money and then have it being over but he wanted to make sure that this was the last one. Like he said he never wanted to work with them again.
So total deniability was needed from his end.
