The man keeps saying that he doesn't know who is after them just that he was told to look for her. This really was getting weird, it sounded like if they didn't want her to leave then they were going to do everything they can to make sure she stays in Brazil, but to what end? Was there something bigger than just a work thing with her father? Could someone really want her away from her father and his dealings?
Valkyrie shot him and then she sighed under her breath, just because he was dead that didn't mean she felt anymore safer now because of the fact that he could've told someone where they were and now those people could be on their way here to get her. Sure she was the bait and that was probably the plan but that didn't stop Evie from feeling terrified of going back into that basement or worse other places in the world.
What if all of this was personal? What if it wasn't to do with business at all? Evie wasn't sure what she thought at the moment but she watched as Valkyrie crouched and took a radio and then finds the guys wallet and she looks at the money. "Someone must really want me bad if they are willing to spend that amount of money" she said quietly before looking around.
The amount of money this person was willing to throw about on idiots was astonishing to her but they had been the ones to get her and now lose her. They were trying to get her back to them and that was by any means necessary and that was frightening but she couldn't be afraid if she was going to be staring these people down. It might not be much but she would do anything she could to bring these people down and make sure they paid for everything that has happened over the last week or so.
Evie then added on. "This isn't business," she muttered and looked over at Valkyrie. "This is personal"
She wasn't sure if that scared her more, if it was personal then she might know the person behind this but if it had been business then it would be down to some grumbling person who didn't like the way that her father was doing business. Personal means they could have a connection to her but business, that was all down to her father and she never went anywhere near that.

Valkyrie couldn't care less about the amount of cash. Any person desperate or violent enough could find the means to pay off their hit-men with this kind of money, all it takes is a little bit of determination. It's the cash itself that interests her. "Business or pleasure, whoever it is is in Rio." She decides, rising back to her feet. There's no other way he could have money that doesn't even have a wrinkle in it among his things. She tosses the wallet back down onto the dead man's chest, and stuffs the cash into a pocket. "Seems they were intending on collecting you personally last night after all." She says, before turning her gaze down towards the radio she lightly turns in her hand. Thoughts of her next steps already begin churning in her mind.
She slides it away for now, deciding first to dispose of the body. If more come looking for this one or for them, a corpse would immediately set their guard on high alert. With ease, she picks the dead man up and slings him over her shoulder, mindful of the blood oozing from the hole in the back of his head. "Suggestion for next time," Valkyrie comments, turning to face Evie still standing there, looking pensive. "If you hear gunshots, don't run towards them." There's an annoyed edge to her words, accentuated by the modulator. But she leaves it at that. Turning away, she begins carrying the corpse towards a thicker portion of underbrush.
"Get the shovel from the jet." She calls back.

Evie looked over at Valkyrie when they said about the fact that it was like they were coming to get her and she couldn't help but agree, it would suggest that way especially with what one of the kidnappers had said about her going soon. She never assumed that it would be going home but now she was curious to actually see who wanted her this badly that they would hire idiots.
But it was idiots that had got to her as quickly as they did.
She watches as Valkyrie puts the money into one of their pockets before they turned to her and then spoke. Saying about not running towards the gunshots and Evie sighed, she knew it was stupid but for some reason she only thought about who was on the other end of the gunshots. She wanted to know more about who was after her and it felt like it was the only way she could really do it. Evie watched Valkyrie go with the body and they said about getting a shovel out of the jet.
Valkyrie disappeared and she made her way back to the jet, Evie let the silence of the jet hit her and she took a deep breath to take everything in. She finally found the shovel and made her way to where Valkyrie had disappeared too with the shovel. This has never happened to her before but it looks like she was going to be getting a lesson in burying a body. Evie wasn't sure if that actually worried her or not but there was nothing that she could do about it now.

Valkyrie finds a spot easily hidden among the thick, low bushes to bury the man, and drops his lifeless corpse to the ground a foot away. Kneeling down, she quickly begins undressing him -- peeling off his shoes, his trousers, his shirt -- and tossing the bloodied clothes into a small, messy pile. Evie returns by then, carrying the compact military shovel she needed. Valkyrie says nothing as she takes it from her, setting it down for now and drawing her sword from the sheath on her back instead.
"You might want to look away," she warns, only seconds before bringing her sword down in a wide arc.
Digging the hole takes the longest of the tasks, but Val does it without even a sigh of complaint. It's a small hole, just wide enough to fit the dismembered body parts and just deep enough to keep them from washing back to the surface the next time Rio gets hit with a downpour. Her gloves are red and bloodied by the time she's finished, small splatters of crimson marking her chest plate and mask as well. By the time the corpse is buried, the sun is almost halfway into the sky, and no one else has shown up to find their missing friend.
Tugging a lighter from her pocket, Valkyrie sets the pile of clothes on fire.

Evie looks away when Valkyrie suggests it but she could hear and pretty much imagine what is going on. It seemed like the only way to get rid of the body and burning it would only make it smell bad. Not that she's ever burnt a body before but she guessed that it would smell.
When Valkyrie was finished she watched as the body parts were put in the ground but she couldn't help and see that Valkyrie had blood on themselves and for the first time she wondered why they didn't take their mask off. Were they afraid that she would see something? Were they afraid that she would see them? Evie wasn't sure but she wasn't sure if she should ask.
There really hadn't been much of a connection between the two of them but she guessed that was a good thing because she wasn't sure if she could really relate to someone like Valkyrie, they were hired to do whatever the person wanted and in this it was to find her and she guessed to get rid of the people who was after her and that was why she was the bait.
Evie pulled her lip in and bit on it and watched as the man's clothes burnt and she sighed under her breath. If the person had people all over the place then could she really get out of here without rousing suspicion from people? Evie wasn't sure but at the moment she just wanted to go home and for all of this to be over.
She finally moved away and headed back towards the jet.

She stomps out the ashy remains and dicks it into the grass and dirt, leaving behind as little evidence as she can. The stench of blood continues to linger, filling her nostrils as she turns her back to the buried gore and moves towards the jet. Valkyrie flips off the lip of the storage container, digging until she finds a package of moist towelettes. It isn't much, but it'll do for the time being. She rips the package open and grabs the first couple, not even bothering to separate them into separate sheets before scrubbing the blood off of her chest and her arms and her hands.
This isn't the first time she's carved up a corpse. Not the first time she's gotten to see the inner workings of tendons and muscles and organs all sloshing across the ground. Taskmaster made sure of that. But it still bothers her. Even now, even after the number of kills notching her belt, it leaves a foul taste at the back of her throat, a sick twist in her stomach. But she does it. She does it and she doesn't complain or flinch or even gag.
She's got too much else to worry about.
She throws the bloodied towelettes to the floor of the jet, and grabs another fresh one to scrub at her mask.

By the time Valkyrie had got back to the jet Evie was sat down on her bed and she was taking a drink of water. She could still see the blood on Valkyrie and she winkled her nose at the smell of the copper and she watched as Valkyrie grabbed the towelettes and then scrubbing the blood off of themselves.
She does the water bottle back up and sees the towelettes on the floor of the jet before Valkyrie grabs the one for their mask and then the question burns up inside of her. The one that had caught at her when she was walking back from the body. "Do you ever take your mask off?
Evie licked her lips and watches for a moment she she really wants to ask the question right up to the point that it just seems to force itself out of her mouth without her meaning for it to. "Do you ever take your mask off?" she asked and then put the water bottle on the bed next to her. "I mean you didn't last night when we got to the jet and you aren't not to wipe the blood so I got curious" she shrugged up a shoulder and hoped that Valkyrie wouldn't tell her to mind her own business but if they did then she would mind it but it was a somewhat normal question.
It was a question that was different from the others that she had going through her right now, like asking if Valkyrie had chopped someone up before or if this went wrong then would she but the one who is chopped up. It seemed a silly question but it did somewhat bring out a fear in her that she hadn't had before but if she was going to be getting through this alive then she might as well do it with Valkyrie and not anyone else.

Val pauses when Evie speaks, asking about the mask. She turns her head slightly in the girl's direction, taking a moment to think over her answer very carefully. It's not something she generally discusses. Hell, it's not something people generally ask. Those that see her in her mask either don't live long enough to say a damn thing, or are too chickenshit to even mention it. But Evie...Evie is odd. Which feels like an understatement. This woman has been kidnapped, locked in a basement, rescued by an assassin, and has witnessed the murder and disposal of a man, and asks her about the mask. Casually, too. Like it's small-talk.
"Yes," Valkyrie replies curtly, tossing the bloodied towelette to the floor with the others. She's tempted to leave it at that, let the single word hang in the air, but the answer feels lackluster. Especially when she's bound to ask more. "Just not when I'm working." She picks up the pile of trash and tosses it into a small, empty metal bin, deciding to deal with that later. She pulls the small radio free once more, turning on a heel to pace slowly to the other end of the plane.
No one has called yet, looking for updates. Maybe they figure he's dead. Maybe they're waiting for him to initiate contact.

Evie watches Valkyrie as they speak and answers her but she then nods and watches as they moved down the other end of the jet and she closes her mouth him. She wasn't sure what else to really say but the questions that she didn't want to ask were burning at the back of her throat. She was afraid that they would push out like the other one had just done so she opens up the bottle of water once more and takes a drink of it.
She watches Valkyrie for a minute more before shutting the bottle up once more. It was like this person was meant to die or there was something else behind it but she wasn't sure if she wanted to know the answer to that. It even felt like she could do with getting out of this jet but she knew if she would probably end up in the arms of the enemy again. But maybe that was the idea that they needed to find out who was behind all of this.
An idea came to her mind and then she decided to ask another question. "Do you have any trackers? I mean the ones that go under the skin?" she asked and raised an eyebrow. It was just an idea and it would probably be shot down but it was probably better than sitting around here waiting for something to happen especially if they wanted to get all of this over and done with so that they could go their own ways.
Plus she wanted this to be over as quickly as she could have it so that she could get the hell out of Brazil. It was looking a pain in the ass place to her right now but she would probably come back, just not any time soon.

Val arches a brow beneath her mask, turning her head back to the look at Evie once more. It's a thought. Placing a tracker under her skin, leaving her somewhere very public, following the chaos that ensues afterwards. It'd no doubt lead them straight to where they want to be. But it's reckless. If this job wasn't solely about getting Evie home to her father safely, she might consider it. But she has no idea what the people behind this kidnapping have in mind. Putting any kind of distance between herself and Evie could mean losing her back into the traffic of Brazil. And a tracker doesn't matter if they kill her before Val can reach her again.
"Too dangerous." She says, shaking her head. "But I might have a similar plan." She admits, taking a step back in Evie's direction. "I'll make a meeting. Sell you back to them. That'll get us both in the room with your kidnapper. And then...well. They can join their friend in the ground."
It's still a little reckless. Still a little stupid. But Valkyrie knows the math. Even if this kidnapper has a dozen more armed thugs lurking around them, she's still got the advantage. And she's not worried about their foe taking the bait. Valkyrie isn't known for her loyalty. Besides taking contracts from both sides of current political affairs, showing no allegiance to one entity, or even seemingly giving a damn about anyone, if people know her name, they know it because of how she got it. The bodies left behind at Taskmaster's school speak for themselves.

Evie was glad that she didn't have to tell Valkyrie what she was thinking because they picked up on it quickly. But then added on that it was too dangerous but they might have a similar plan and then she thought about it for a moment and then nodded. "I like that idea" she admitted. It would mean that it was over quickly plus she wanted to look her kidnapper in the face and ask them why the hell they would do this.
If her father had paid Valkyrie to get her home then it would mean that she would be making it back home or at least she intended to make it back home to the States. If nothing went wrong with this meeting then she should be on her way home in the next couple of days but she really didn't want to think about what could happen especially when they were going in there with the goal to kill them.
Evie was willing to do anything to make sure that these people were caught for what they were trying to do. Plus if it got them both in a room with the kidnappers then this would be over, hopefully, before they could buy her and take her out the country just as long as she could count on Valkyrie to not actually let her get sold. But they were going to have to make it look like Valkyrie was really going to sell her and she would have to believe it for as long as she could and make it look real in front of the person who really did want to buy her.
Maybe even bind her back up to make it look real.

Evie agrees to the idea, even if she didn't really have much of a choice. Not if they wanted to get this over and done with. Not if Valkyrie is going to complete her mission. But she nods to Evie's response, and turns her back at the same moment that she presses the switch on the side of the radio. No time like the present.
"Was that really your plan?" She speaks into the comm, the modulator turning her voice rough and gravelly, as she digs an M16 out of her arsenal. "Send one man to track us down?"
She releases the switch and waits, silence echoing through the speaker. Sliding the M16 into a holster around her shoulder, she lets the people on the other end figure out their next move. It takes them a moment, longer than it should have, longer than any man who's not a coward would take. And then.
"Who is this?"
"Stupid question." Valkyrie replies, turning to lean her back against the wall of the jet. She crosses one arm over her chest but keeps the radio close to the mouth of her mask. Her green eyes set on Evie. "But tell you what. This bullshit isn't worth my time. If you handle this right, we both might be able to walk away from this happy."
Another long pause. "You want...to make a deal?"
"Ten million for the girl. But I want a face-to-face with your boss."
"Not possible."
"Then I kill her-"
"Fine, fine!" The voice on the other end interrupts quickly in a panic. "I'll let them know."
"Christo Redentor, midnight. If neither the money or your boss shows, I throw her off the cliff." Valkyrie releases the switch and drops the radio to the ground, crushing it with a single slam of her heel.

Valkyrie got on the radio and was speaking to the person and even Evie started to get a little worried about what was going to happen to her once they were in the room with the kidnapper. It seemed like the male on the other end was getting a little bit panicked over what Valkyrie was saying and at the moment she couldn't blame him because after the final demand she was starting to wonder if she would end up going over the cliff or whether that was just to make sure that both of them were in a room with the kidnapper.
Then the male finally gave in and she could hear the extra bit of panic in his voice and then Valkyrie told them where they would be meeting and before long the radio was on the floor and was being crushed. Evie stood in silence for a moment while she thought over what the hell had just happened there. If Valkyrie was going to be selling her out to the kidnapper then she had to be prepared for that but now they had time to prepare for what could happen in the meeting even if she was now not looking forward to it.
She wasn't sure what would happen to her in the meeting but she was now scared to even be going to it. Valkyrie had sounded so convincing and she wasn't sure if they wouldn't take the money and leave her to the will of the kidnappers. Maybe if they got a better offer then she would probably hand herself over but at the moment she needed to get ready for the meeting mentally. Especially if nothing was going to prepare her emotionally.
-.-
It seemed like the hours just flew by and before she knew it they were getting ready to leave for the meeting, her wrists were bound and she knew it wasn't tight but at the same time it made her feel like she was back in the basement. She had tried to seem so confident that everything would be alright but honestly it wasn't making her feel like everything would be okay at the end of this.
It was getting closer and closer to midnight and now she was starting to worry that the kidnappers wouldn't turn up because of Valkyrie's new deal. But if they wanted her that badly then they would make some sort of appearance. Her heart rate was going faster and faster and she was sure that either she was going to have a heart attack or her heart was going to be coming out of her chest.
Then a minute or so before midnight someone came walking towards them and she felt like she was going to pass out because she was so scared of the person who was getting closer but it was a woman.
What did this woman have in connection to her or her father?

Valkyrie prepares herself in the only way she knows how. She straps her sword to her back, the blade cleaned and sharpened, and slides the remainder of her weapons in their designated places -- a pistol at her thigh, the M16 against her side, the knives in her boots, the extra mags attached to her belt. At eleven on the dot, the sun long disappearing beneath the horizon, she loads her RPG onto the side of her motorcycle.
Evie seems more and more nervous the closer they get to the set meeting time, perhaps the realization of what's about to occur beginning to get to her. But she doesn't complain or frown when Val loops black zip-ties around her wrists, just tight enough to be convincing but not tight enough to be uncomfortable. "They want you alive," Valkyrie says, trying to be reassuring even if that's difficult with the mask and the modulator, "so their aim isn't to hurt you, not here. But when I say to hit the floor, you do it."
She helps Evie onto the back of the motorcycle before taking the reigns, and back down the hill they go.
Christ the Redeemer sits on a nearby cliff, glowing white in the moonlight as he looks upon the city. This time of night, the tourists have all been ushered away, leaving the statue in solitude. There's not much cover here, but there's only one road up and one road down, leaving no possibility of being surrounded. But only if they get there first. The statue rises higher and higher above them as they climb the road, the roar of the Ducati's engine echoing off of the surrounding trees. They approach a locked gate a little ways down the hill, and Valkyrie draws the pistol from her thigh to aim and shoot the keyhole. It bursts with a crack, and the gate swings open just in time for them to wind their way through. She re-holsters and drives on.
Upon reaching the top, Christ looms like giant over them, making them feel almost as small as the tiny lights of the city spread far beneath them. Valkyrie parks her motorcycle around the back of the base of the statue, cutting the engine and the lights. Hooking a hand around Evie's elbow, she helps her from the seat. "It'll be fine." She says once Evie is on her own two feet, having felt her rapid pulse even through the fabric of her gloves. "I know what I'm doing." They wind their way back to the front of Christ, staying silent. And wait.
A minute to midnight a figure arrives out of the darkness, but Valkyrie makes no move for her guns. She simply crosses her arms over her chest, and watches. A woman approaches, older and refined, but Val checks the shadows behind her for guards. She sees two, further back, keeping a distance. Her green eyes shift back to the woman.
"Do you have the money?" She asks, her voice steady.

The woman gets closer and there is something familiar about her, something pulling at Evie's mind that she's trying so hard to remember where the hell she has seen this woman before. The two guards at the back seem to be a little distance away but still within distance of being able to hear what is going on. One of them carrying something to which Evie could only guess was the money that Valkyrie had asked for.
The woman has dark hair but it seems like there is a bit of grey in it too, her eyes still look young though and for a moment it seems as if she is checking her out. Probably making sure that she is actually unharmed, other than the fact that she had ties on her wrists. Evie wasn't harmed, well not physically anyway. It had been the right thing to do, it had been the only option and yet there was something in her that seemed to feel sympathy at Simon because he would find out that his buying of this Valkyrie would be the reason why she had Evie in her hands in the first place.
The woman then looked back up at Evie and then there was a flash of memory that came to her and it seemed to shock her to her core. It was a memory of her father holding a picture out to Evie and explaining that that woman was her mother, that she had left not long after she had been born and how her father would be the one to bring her up.
Evie had asked a couple of times about the woman who had brought her into this world and sometimes found it hard when she saw other kids with their mothers but as she grew up and realised that in the end she really didn't need a mother who would walk out on her like she was nothing. Simon had been both mother and father and he must've found it very hard but he done a good job. Now it seemed like this woman was the kidnapper, what was she hoping for? To spend some time with the daughter that she had abandoned all those years before?
Before the woman, Michelle, could reply, Evie looked over at her once more and said. "I know you"
Michelle's eyes turned upon Evie and there seemed to be a bit of surprise in them but she let that go, of course Simon would tell Evie of her. Even if it was to make sure that she had walked out on both of them. "You know me?" she asked
Evie took a deep breath and then finally said "You're my mother, the one who walked out on me" there was a look of disgust as she looked away from her and over towards Valkyrie.
