Tessa rolls her eyes when he glares at her and is angry, it wasn't as if she had told Steve to put him up against the wall. That was all on Scott himself but of course he didn't want to listen to good advice, but if he wanted to piss off a female with two bodyguards like those two then that was all on him. She wasn't going to get involved, unless of course the dark haired one came unwrapped with a bow around him. At that thought she cleared her throat before putting her dark brown eyes on the Don when he spoke.
Of course she was right, men might think that women were the kind to just go in the back and be the perfect housewife but he should know that women would do anything they could and then there were just some that were born to be better than those around the others. Tessa smiled when Giamatti took her hand. "It was lovely to see you too" she said with the same smile and then watched as he kissed her knuckles, it was like she was being kissed by her grandfather and that just made her want to shiver at the thought but she let him continue especially when he had been on her side about not making a woman angry.
Tessa watched as the Don spoke to her father and then left before she looked around and was glad that someone hadn't spotted the trouble that had taken on in the corner, the last thing she wanted was for the cops to come down on them. Although she might see her brother after all. She then held up her hand to the bodyguard and told him that she would handle it before she turned to her father. "You need to calm down," she muttered "because the last thing anyone wants to see is you looking like you could strangle anyone who even looks in your way" it was pretty much true. When Scott was mad, everyone around them knew it because of the change in atmosphere and the red look of anger on his face but thankfully at the moment no one seemed to sense the fact that the owner of this club was so mad that it looked like he would have smoke coming out of his ears.
Tessa then put her eyes on the bodyguard once more "Maybe that scotch would do my father some good" she nodded and looked back at her father, "And maybe you should go up to your office so that you can vent there." It would be better than leaving an angry Scott in the crowd like this. It would be bad enough that she had to keep an eye on Lu-Ann without adding the trouble with her father too, even if she wanted to point out that he deserved it for talking to Peggy the way that he did. Not every person ignored his remarks like Tessa did.

"Forget the scotch." Scott shakes off the offer. He dislikes being treated like a child throwing a tantrum, and he certainly doesn't need to be babied by his own daughter. He waves a hand towards the wine and glasses the Don left behind, remembering that he's still in a public place. His place. And he expects his place to live up to a standard. "Get someone to clean this shit up. Then find out everything you can about Peggy Carter." He says her name like it leaves a bad taste in her mouth, and steps around the table. Scott pauses at his daughter's side, turning to look at her just a little, though he can feel anger bubbling up in his throat once more. "And behave yourself for once. I don't need anymore embarrassment tonight." He chastises snidely, before disappearing through the crowd. People part to let him pass before returning to their cocktails and petty conversation.
Bucky watches from the bar; his black hat and elbow resting upon the wooden counter-top. He smirks a little to himself before ordering the bourbon that Peggy never got treated to, reminding himself not to mention that later. There's plenty to respect about good ol' Carter, from her war record to her impeccable way of making him feel like he's missing out on something just by smiling at him, but it's the drinking that Bucky really admires. The woman might look soft and pliable in all the right ways, but she's built like a fucking tank. Three drinks and Bucky gets real sloshy and more pleased with himself than usual, but Peggy keeps her head straight and her tongue just as sharp. And she always drinks bourbon.
He taps out a Lucky Strike and places it on his lips. After flicking the flint on his silver lighter - an engraving on the side reading WHAT A HELL OF A WAY TO DIE - he leans in close to the flame to light the tip, and sucks in a deep breath of smoke. He shoves the lighter back into the pocket of his trousers, and uses his long, pale fingers to slide the loose strands of his hair out of his face. The bartender sets the glass of bourbon in front of him, and Bucky lifts his pale blue eyes up to his face. "Thanks, pal." He murmurs, pulling the cigarette from his mouth to gulp down a few swallows of the amber liquor. It's horrendous, and he likes it.

Tessa shakes her head before she huffs out a breath. She was only trying to keep her father from exploding on the spot but she really needed to stop being like this. This was one of the many reasons why she spent most of her night out of the house. Why she spent most of the time, if she could, with her own brother or at Lu-Ann's home. She looked over at him when he turned to look at her and said that she needed to behave herself. She felt her hands clench into fists as her side as he walked away. The only one embarrassing anyone was him doing it to her. She waited for a minute in the same place before she pushed her way towards the bar. Needing something strong to drink.
Tessa came up to Lu-Ann's side once more but the poor girl looked as if she was half asleep, or was sleeping, with her head on the bar. At the moment she didn't want to deal with it. Instead she banged her hand down on the bar to get the barkeep's attention. "Something strong please, Johnny" she said and then clenched her fist once more. "And can you get Michael to clear up in the corner, there was an accident" although why she was telling him she didn't know, maybe it was down to the fact that she was tired of keeping it in right now. "Oh and have someone take Lu-Ann home"
It was only when she looked down the bar that she saw the dark haired man who was one of Peggy's bodyguards. She felt a smile pull at her lips before she bit on the bottom one and moved over to him, raising her eyebrow as she came to stand in front of the guy. "I thought you had gone home" she said and then put one arm on the bar while the other hand was on her hips. It wasn't every day that someone came here with another woman wanting to make an offer to her father and then stuck around. Maybe he wanted to see the effects of what Peggy had said on her father, or he was just staying round to piss him off. Either way she was going to take the time to speak to him. He clearly had affected her father so badly.
Either way Tessa wasn't going to listen to her father about not embarrassing him. He deserved it and if he wanted to take his anger out on things then he could do that in his office. Anyway who cared what Scott Argent thought about this, she was constantly proving to him that he didn't control her.

Bucky is just setting his drink back down, feeling the burn of it at the back of his throat, when someone approaches from the side. He recognizes the silver shimmer of her dress before he even looks up, and a small coy smile tugs at the corner of his mouth. "Not yet." He replies, turning his head just enough to look at her. His blue eyes scan her up and down once, even though he'd spent much of the last half hour looking at her. It's not an exaggeration, nor a pun, to say that she looks like she's come straight from the silver screen. There are plenty of beautiful women in the world, the movies make that clear, but there are very few who look like her. Money and that dress suit her well.
"But I half expected your pops to put you under lock and key." He admits in a sly tease, placing his cigarette back to the corner of his mouth. He hadn't been blind to the looks that Scott Argent had been throwing his way each and every time he so much as glanced in Tessa's direction, which happened a lot more than he'd care to admit. Bucky knows plenty about angry, overprotective dads, and hers has it written all over him. He's pretty sure that's why even the bartender seems to shield his gaze each and every time he comes around to this end of the bar. With a rich and no-doubt powerful dad like hers, touching her might mean a death sentence. Especially for bad men like him.
Bucky always liked a challenge.
"Can I buy you a drink?" He asks around the cigarette.

Tessa felt his eyes looking her up and down and she couldn't help but feel smug about that fact. She always liked to test drive the guys that her father didn't like and knowing that her father hated him very much right now, she was going to make sure that she could do everything she could to get close to him, which at the moment seemed like it would be easy. Her father would be seriously mad but who really cared, it kept him on his feet.
She scoffed and the looked over at her shoulder in the direction of the balcony and thankfully he wasn't there to see her with him. The only person who would embarrass Scott Argent was Scott Argent. It wasn't her fault that men wanted to get their hands on her but then again it wasn't like she stopped them from touching her in any way she could get them too. This would be another one she could add to that list especially when she knew her father would hate the very thought of her going anywhere near one of the bodyguards that worked for Peggy Carter. She then looked back at him and smiled. "My father can't control me in that way" she admitted and shrugged up a shoulder before letting a grin pull at her lips.
If she was honest she was surprised that her father wasn't having one of his bodyguards take her home but if he kept her here then clearly he could keep his eyes on her, only this time around his eyes were no doubt staring at the four walls of his office as he tried not to blow up at the fact that a woman had out done him. Even she wanted to smirk at the thought. Tessa had to admire Peggy Carter especially when she clearly knew how to handle things.
"You can do just that" she nodded and then moved closer to the bar. Anyone willing to buy her a drink was worth keeping around for a moment. Even if there was many men that would sit around her at the bar and get her drinks and light her cigarette's. At that thought she looked down the bar and saw that Lu-Ann had been taken home, good. She would check up on her in the morning then Tessa turned her attention back on the dark haired man from before.
"What made you stay around?" she asked. What did make him stay at the bar?

Bucky smirks a little to himself at her reply, liking that answer. "Independent woman. I like that." He pulls the cigarette from his mouth and turns his head towards the bartender, who hasn't stopped watching them since Tessa decided to make conversation. Breathing out a stream of smoke, he lifts a hand slightly to get the man's already attentive stare. "Can I get a refill and whatever the lady likes." He taps his own empty glass. The bartender steps towards them to take the glass, but doesn't really give him the courtesy of a reply. If Bucky was more concerned, he'd be worried that the man would spill the beans to his boss about the strange man chatting up his daughter, but even if he does, there's nothing that Scott can do. The worst outcome is Bucky gets kicked around by a couple nameless wise guys, but he's more than capable of handling himself in a fight. He's got the scars to prove it.
He shifts his gaze back to Tessa when she asks a question, his tongue rolling subtly along his bottom lip. With a small shrug of his shoulder, he taps the ash off of his cigarette into the crystal ashtray. "Needed a drink." He admits. "And when in Rome..." He adds on in a tease. There are very few bars that Bucky walks into and leaves without buying a drink. And even with this overpriced swill, that wasn't going to change just because her dad made his point very clear. He'd also be lying if Scott's blatant dislike for him wasn't actually the cherry on top of the sundae; making The Pandemonium his favorite club that night.
Besides, there isn't much he doesn't do without Carter's say-so.
The bartender returns with Bucky's bourbon and a lemon drop martini for Tessa. Bucky ignores his drink for the most part. Instead, he takes another drag from his cigarette and keeps his eyes on Tessa.

Tessa smiled. To be honest if she was so independent then she wouldn't actually be in here every night, she would actually be doing her own things just like her brother. But if she wanted free drink then this was the only place she would end up. She looked over at the guy behind the bar and knew that he would know what she liked because of the fact that he was the one who actually served her every night and possibly she helped herself during the day when she was waiting to speak to the father that was now sitting in his office trying to calm down or spying on her, either way she was going to ignore him.
She looked around at the bar before putting her eyes back on him. "I wouldn't have expected you to stay here" she admitted. If Tessa had been him, she would've left the second the other two had but she guessed that was just her, but she would've been back the next night to annoy the guy who ran the club. This man just happened to be her father.
Tessa looked up when she hears two glasses being put in front of them. "Thank you, Johnny" she said and then took a sip of her drink before looking back at the man who clearly had her attention. "Is it true?" she asked after a moment. "Thank you're from the Army?" Tessa knew that her father liked to think that he knew everything but she really wanted to find out if that was the truth. She took another sip of her drink before putting her dark brown eyes back on him.
Then came a thought that she didn't even know his name, maybe that was irrelevant due to the fact that she would only be seeing him for the one night, it wasn't like she kept up with people who she used for the night. It usually got back to her father in the end but who cares if this gets back to her father. He couldn't stop his daughter from doing anything like that, she was old enough to do what she wanted and she wanted so badly to do him, just so that it would get back to Scott Argent.

"What can I say? I like the atmosphere." He muses, though it's utter bullshit. Bucky has spent a lot of time in bars and clubs, especially now that he's home from the Western front, but it's never been because he actually likes the joints. Most bars are seedy and beer-soaked, and always smell like sweat. While The Pandemonium is far from that thanks to an abundance of money at Argent's disposal, it's also no place he'd come back to just to see the red velvet furnishings and the big crystal chandelier. He likes clubs because of the music. Whether is hot jazz or swing, as long as he can feel it vibrating through his chest like real music is supposed to, he'll love it immediately.
The girls help too.
Smoke trails from his mouth as she asks about the army. Earlier, she looked a little starstruck by the revelation, but now she just looks curious. He guesses that's because most guys his age around the city are just getting home too, or because most of the guys who left four years ago are either dead or locked up in a hospital somewhere. Somehow its common yet incredibly uncommon to be a war veteran nowadays. He smiles and replies, "107th Infantry, stationed in Germany." And Italy, and London, and France. "Got the medals to prove it." Including the purple heart from when he was captured behind enemy lines and tortured for a week. He tries not to think about it. Plenty of guys got plenty worse. And plenty of those guys are dead because of him.
He's home now, anyway. And Steve is too. And that's all he cares about.

Tessa raised her eyebrow when he said that he liked the atmosphere. The only atmosphere she felt right now was the still charging air from where the scuffle happened in the corner between her father and the other bodyguard. Although it served him right because he disrespected a woman. Even if it was one who wanted to do a gun deal with him. It's bad enough that men thought they were so much better than women anyway but to have her father sneeringly say that Peggy Carter should be up on the stage showing off her legs rather than sitting across from him trying to make a deal, even if Tessa was completely against the guns herself, he deserved the response he got from Steve.
Tessa took another sip of her Lemon Drop and listened to what he said and nodded. She was lucky when it came to her brother. He hadn't gone over to fight in the war, even if that was also a terrible thing to think about due to the fact that nearly every man had that fought in the war was dead, and those who were lucky enough to come back were changed forever. She had this bond with her brother that even her father couldn't break, lord knows he has tried, but she knew that if he had gone to fight in the war then he wouldn't come back the same person, if he even came back at all. Graeme made her life a little bit easier, he was the one she could turn too when things got tough, the one she turned too when she needed someone to talk too, but she wasn't blind nor deaf to the fact that Scott would've preferred Graeme to have fought in the war and to not come back, then he would have the hold over Tessa once more. As long as Graeme was around, there was no way that Scott would see eye to eye with Tessa. That thought made her clench her hand, tightly, around the glass before she cleared her throat. Scott was a horrible person and whoever sent her to him really was making fun of her.
"I'm sorry" she said after a moment and gave him the first genuine smile. No one should have to fight in the war but she guessed that it had happened, it was over and now they tried to move on. If it was ever that simple. Tessa went back to her drink and then bit down on her lip. "Do you want to get out of here? I mean even if it's just to walk the streets, the last thing I want to do is stay in this club tonight" she admitted before she reached into her purse. Thankfully that had been left at the bar for her before grabbing out some money, that always went to the barkeeper to take home with him.

"Nothing to apologize for." Bucky replies, matching her genuine smile with a soft smile of his own. The only ones who should be apologizing are the head honchos at the US Army. The ones who drafted him into a war he wanted nothing to do with and put a gun in his hands. But he can't pretend like the Army didn't have it's perks. Without it or the war, he would have never met Peggy Carter, hellion in heels, and he would have never been standing right here. He likes his job. He's finally one of those guys with the fancy suits and the slicked back hair and a gun tucked inside his jacket. What's there not to like?
He regards her with a faint satisfied smile upon her offer, having wanted to hear those words all night. "Couldn't say no even if I tried." Bucky extinguishes his cigarette into the ashtray as he speaks, and tugs free his wallet. He stops her before she can put her own money on the bar by placing a hand lightly on her wrist. "I promised you a drink, didn't I? I'll pay." It's the least he can do, and a couple drinks aren't by any means going to put a dent in his wallet. Not like they used to. He lays down enough to pay for the drinks and a few bills extra as a tip for the watchful bartender. Maybe it'll keep him from squealing to his boss for now.
Bucky slides his wallet back into the interior of his black suit jacket and picks up his hat from the counter-top, before turning back to Tessa. "After you." He tells her, placing the hat against his chest and giving a slight, humorous, bow of his head.

Tessa felt his hand on her wrist and then nodded. Well if he wanted to pay for the drinks then he was more than welcome to do so. She shut her purse back up before she looped the handle around her arm and then looked back over at Johnny, who was actually giving her that look that he gave her when she left with a guy. She gave him a soft smile before she then turned back to look at Bucky and then chuckled under her breath when he placed his hat against his chest and gave the slight bow of his head.
She tapped the bar and grinned before she nudged her head towards the doorway of the bar. Anything to get away from everything that had happened in the corner. Tessa glanced in that direction but she was glad that she couldn't see the actual corner, there was too many people still on the dance-floor. She put her dark brown eyes forward and continued to walk out the club.
When they got outside she put her head back and took a deep breath, the air was somewhat clearer than that in the club plus it meant that she was away from the beady eyes of her father and his bodyguards, even if they could only do something when he told them too. He was shut up in his office so it meant he didn't notice she had gone. Don't embarrass herself he said, well she could do that somewhere else. He didn't have to see everything that she did. It was probably a good thing too.
Tessa pulled up her dress a bit so that her heels wouldn't ruin it before they started walking. "How did you end up being Peggy's bodyguard?" she asked and glanced in his direction. "I remember that you three knew each other in the Army but.. what made you really want to do this as a job?"

Bucky follows her through the club and through the throngs of people enjoying their night and out onto the street. It's quieter out here, but that's not saying much. Brooklyn is full of noise. Kids breaking bottles in the street, horns honking until six in the goddamn morning, police sirens, cats yowling; no matter where they go, it follows them. It was something he hated about Europe. It was always so goddamn quiet. He could hardly sleep like that.
He places his black hat on his head, tilted just a little to the side, and walks alongside Teresa down the street. He walks close, their arms brushing against each other. She walks carefully, dress held up just enough to keep from dragging along the dirty sidewalk, and he can't help but smile a little at that. She looks like something ethereal out here in the night. Back in the club, it was different. But out here, her silver dress glows in the headlights of passing cars. He watches her out of his peripherals and notices the distinct differences between them. Bucky blends in to the shadows. Hell, back in Germany, his regiment used to call him Shadow like some boy-scout nickname. It's what made him a good soldier, and makes him an even better killer.
He chuckles a little at her questions. He's used to it, a little, though the questions never really revolved around Peggy. "Bodyguard is a...loose term." He admits, swaying his head slightly side to side as he weighs the advantage of saying anything at all. "She made a good offer after the war, and I took it." Bucky replies, as simply as he can. Truth is, Peggy doesn't need a bodyguard. Bucky's seen her crack as many skulls as he has, and she does it all while looking a hell of a lot better than he does. But she's the brains, so he and Steve act as the brawn. It's nothing they haven't been doing since they were thirteen and full of shit.
"What about you?" He asks, changing the conversation. He gradually comes to a halt on the sidewalk and turns to look at her fully, head cocked slightly to the side. "Is it your father who's dangerous, or is it you?"

Tessa puts her attention back on him when he answers her question. It was a simple enough answer and she liked that. At least he wasn't explaining loads and loads about how he had got to this job. Most of the time, if a man decided to tell her his life story, she would be lost and ignore them as much as she could but this time it was simple and she would accept that.
She raised her eyebrow when he asked about her, and then they stopped and she then bit down on her lip. Was that one of those lines that the men tried out on the women to try and get them back to their small apartments? Tessa looked around before she pushed her lips out slightly, pretending to think the question over before she put her eyes back on him. "I hold my own" she said with a grin before she shrugged up a shoulder.
Tessa then moved around him and whispered into his ear, "Women are always dangerous in their own way" she then moved away and carried on down the street. Like the Don had said, women were ruthless. If they wanted something then they just went for it, not really caring who was in the way at the time. So if Peggy really wanted to work with Scott then in the end she would get her way. It might take a while before the man came around but Tessa knew in the end her father would cave. She had gone for things that were in front of her not caring who was in the way at the time. It had caused her father to get mad at her but in honesty she truly didn't care.
She looked over her shoulder at him with a sly smile on her lips before she looked forward once more and continued to walk. If he wanted to keep up with her then he had better be top of his game. But in honesty he had her when he smiled at her back in the club when Peggy was talking to her father.
Tessa was completely impossible, there was always some new man to keep her occupied for a night, but that's all it would be. Just a night then she could get back to life with her father.

Bucky smiles a little at her answer, liking the way she takes a moment to make it look like she's humble about that fact. He's not stupid. He knows that it's usually the girls with overprotective fathers who are always the ones holding all the strings. They're good liars and they're good troublemakers, and they're always the girls that get Bucky right down on his knees. If it was her father who was truly holding all the cards, then Tessa wouldn't have been anywhere near that sit-down with Peggy and Scott. But her father keeps her close by like something pretty to look at, not realizing he's giving her all the education she needs to be powerful.
And Bucky really isn't stupid.
His smile turns wide as Teresa walks around him and whispers in his ear, proving his point. His blue eyes follow after her as she steps away, making a trail down the sidewalk. She looks back at him slyly over her silver shoulder, and Bucky realizes for the first time that night that be might be a little over his head with this one.
"About damn time," He murmurs to himself before he follows after, the grin remaining on his mouth.
He catches up in only a few steps, and he places a hand on the small of her back. Tessa's dress is silky under his palm for a dress that looks like pure silver, but he's not complaining. He leans in close to her ear as they walk, much like how she did to him, and asks in a hushed voice, "You going to show me how dangerous you are?"

Tessa continues walking but she knows when he comes to her side. It's like this presence that she's well aware of, maybe it was down to the fact that she just wanted to get him back to her place and take that nice suit off him. She pulls her lip in between her teeth when not only does he place his hand on the small of her back but then leans in close to her ear and asks if she's going to show him how dangerous she really was. She just looked over at him and grinned.
Oh there definitely was going to be time for her to see how dangerous she really was. But first she was going to be taking him back to her place. Surprisingly it actually wasn't that far from the club, Scott didn't want to be that far away. Tessa remembered rolling her eyes when he had told her that they had a place just a few streets away from the club. Only to then be horrified at the fact that he had been telling the truth. Tessa had made the place her home so that's all that mattered in the end.
They made small talk about things going passed or how different everything looked the closer they got to her house. But when they finally did get there she turned to look at him and then bit down on her lip before she cleared her throat. "Now, I can easily leave you here or you can come in, that's really up to you" she said and searched through her purse for a key before moving up the steps and opening the door. Tessa waited for a moment and then grinned when he walked up the steps and she shut the door behind him before she pushed him up against it. She looked over his face before putting her lips against his.
Tessa knew that she would be in so much trouble if her father came home early and yet she found herself deepening the kiss because this was one thing her father couldn't stop her from doing. This was one part of her life that he couldn't control. He had told her not to embarrass herself in the club, so she was going to do that here. She had been wanting to get her hands on him since the club and now she finally had.
She wanted something and went straight for it. And Tessa was completely happy about that.
