Teresa couldn't help but think back to the time when everyone was in Mystic. There were times, mainly all the time, when people, including herself, felt like they had to protect Stiles. Had to make sure if that one of them was getting out of this town alive then it would be him. Protecting him from the supernatural things that seemed to settle in this town time and time again until Mystic became popular for the murders that happened rather than anything else. She had to admit that if it wasn't for her relationship with Stiles and the others then she probably would've ended up in ignorant bliss about what was in the dark. She didn't blame him, no nothing like that but it did open her eyes to the world that her father had been living in. Her father hadn't been kind when she had been walked into the supernatural world by Stiles.
Her mind came back into the present and looked over at Barton. "Stiles has now gone on to prove that he really doesn't need protecting. He's always bounced back" even if it was just with a smile. Things would always have ended up this way. Stiles would've always ended up with Spidey sense, as she liked to joke about, and she would've always ended up with... She looked down at her hands and wondered if she should tell Barton about her other secret but if he had sort of freaked out at the mention of her being in SHIELD then she wasn't sure just how he would take her having.. Well whatever it was.
Emily had made sure that she was okay but even Teresa was sure that she didn't know. In fact she was also sure that they would lock her up in a lab and the last thing she wanted was to be looked at like she had a disease. There was just something different about her now, and that was okay. Everyone was different in their own way and this was hers. If everyone was the same then it would be boring.
Teresa looked up at him and then gave him a soft smile. "He probably just wants to help out the ordinary person, but I can tell you if his dad found out then... it really would be hell to pay"

Barton never knew Stiles before Spider-Man dropped from the sky out of nowhere, literally, but a part of him doubts that the costume changed him all that much. From the very second they met, he's been determined and cunning and ready to jump head-first into any situation, good or bad, regardless of consequence. That's not something that's born out of the blue, born out a single spider bite, born out of new-found strength. A hero isn't built in a day. If anything, Stiles has always had this fire. This power. He just never had the opportunity to prove himself until now.
In a way, Barton thinks he can relate.
"Well," Barton says aloud after a moment, clearing his throat, remembering his own responsibilities. "I should probably head back to Bed-Stuy. Dog to feed, criminals to defeat, that sort of thing." He says, giving a half-amused chuckle as he taps his fingertips on the kitchen counter, one criminal in particular on his mind. "Can't let Spider-man take all the glory."

Teresa looked down at her watch and then sighed. It was pretty late and she did want to get to bed before anything else decided to happen. Unless of course an alien ship fell out of the sky then she was going to be heading to bed, possibly turning her phone off and getting some sleep. Even if something told her that she would be sleeping in the spare bedroom tonight. But she would make sure that Graeme was okay before she too headed off to the land of nod.
"That's completely understandable, I mean he does have really good hair" she looked up at Barton and then raised an eyebrow at him. He really was determined to get into trouble while he could. Teresa didn't know whether she wanted to sigh and roll her eyes or tie him to a chair til he promised not to actually do anything stupid.
But... this was Barton. He always does stupid things. So she just nodded. "Yes, I have a boyfriend to check up on and beauty sleep I need to catch up on seeing as I didn't get much last night" she slid off the counter and found that even with shoes on Barton was still taller than her. How was this fair that everyone was taller than her? She cleared her throat and then pointed at him. "I don't want to hear that you've got arrested, you hear me?" She said and then smiled softly.
"Thank you for turning up to thanksgiving and sorry that it was hell"

"You haven't seen him after four hours with the mask on." Barton retorts, a smile cracking across his mouth. Truth me told, how one person has that much untameable hair is beyond him. Even Bucky, with his nearly shoulder-length black hair, doesn't seem to have the same amount of mess sticking up at every angle at the end of the day. It defies physics.
Barton shakes that thought out of his head and tugs the keys for the rental car out of the pocket of his jeans. "I'll do my best." He replies, the smile fading into something a little tighter and more forced. Getting arrested is the last concern on his mind. SHIELD can go to hell for all he cares. They'd sooner recruit him back in than stick him back in Seagate. Not with the amount of intel floating around in his head. Not with the amount of secrets. And there's a lot more to saving the world than getting knee-deep in political strife. A lot more than trying to alter the outcomes of conflicts, and agreements, and deals. Someone has to get their hands dirty, and Barton has been doing that his entire life.
It's what he was born to do.
"I'll see you around, T." He says, giving the counter another tap as he steps backwards out of the kitchen. He waves once, then turns on a heel and lets his feet carry him towards the front door. With nimble fingers, he tugs his phone from his pocket to check the time. Stiles has ceased his texts, either a good sign or a very very bad one, but a notification of a different kind has taken it's place. He frowns a little, and reaches for the doorknob.

Teresa raised her eyebrow and actually wanted to tell him that it probably looks just like the hairstyle he would get when she ran her fingers through his hair everytime they um, well slept together but telling him that would make it very awkward on the already strained conversation that they seemed to be having now. She pulled her lip in between her teeth and then nodded when he said that he would try his best. It wasn't good but she knew it was the only thing she was going to get from Barton so Teresa would have to take it.
It looked like he hesitated for a moment and she wondered if there was anything else he wanted to say but then he was saying by and holding up a hand in a wave and she done the same. "Bye, Barton" she said and cleared her throat. God, this was so damn awkward that even she would want to get away from this place. She didn't move from her spot as he walked away from her. Why the hell did she find this so damn hard? Maybe because she didn't know when she would see him again, maybe it was down to the fact that she was worried about the job he was now doing. Or maybe it had nothing to do with anything like that, it was just hard and she left it at that
The door shut behind Barton and she sighed under her breath. Everyone had left, leaving a very quiet apartment behind and she wasn't sure what to really do. Other than the two plates that had held her pie and Barton's pieces of pies and the mug that she had been using, there wasn't much to wash up and with how tired she was she put the washing in the sink and promised to do it in the morning.
Teresa grabbed a bottle of water out the fridge and two painkillers before taking it into the bedroom. She saw Graeme was still in the same spot and she couldn't help but give a slight smile. But also she wanted to know what really changed, Scott had never caused Graeme to drink before. But then again she was sure that Captain America hadn't been here before. She put the water and painkillers down on the side cupboard before kissing Graeme on the forehead once more. "I'm sorry today sucked" she said softly against his forehead before pulling back, pulling the covers up while she did. Teresa walked out the bedroom, after grabbing a bucket just in case he would need it, then headed into the spare bedroom. It had been a while since she really slept in here seeing as this had been the bedroom she claimed when she first moved in, needing it for a 'pretend' bedroom.
She was so tired that she removed her shoes and got onto the bed in her clothes. Teresa would change and shower in the morning but for now she really needed proper sleep. The last couple of days had been so long that she had felt like it had been two weeks rather than two days. Today had been the longest and now she was more than happy to sleep it off.
The apartment was quiet once more and that helped pull her into the land of nod.
